The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway: Have Fun with These Winter Activities

Winter is great for bundling up, getting cozy, and staying in to watch movies. But when you feel antsy after being cooped up for days, what is there to do?

Luckily, the Port Liberte area is prime for both indoor and outdoor winter activities. Whether you want to throw on some layers and hit the slopes or splash around at a water park, check out a few of these local opportunities for getting out and warming up.

Have a Tubular Time

Located in Vernon, Mountain Creek provides one of the biggest tubing parks in the state. The park’s 30 lanes cover 5 acres of space, so there’s plenty of room to ride. For a stop a little closer to Port Liberte, Campgaw Mountain is just under an hour away, and even offers a lift to get back up to the top — no uphill trudging required!

Hit the Slopes

Located just over an hour away, Mountain Creek — in addition to a tubing park — also boasts the largest ski area in the state. There are 46 trails of varying levels, and over 160 acres of skiable land spread out across four mountain peaks. Another solid option is Camelback Mountain. Voted #1 for skiing and snowboarding in Pennsylvania, Camelback offers more than just skiing.

Hang out at the (Water) Park

The Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is located at Camelback Lodge, and the water is kept at a tropical 84 degrees year-round. The giant skylights allow you to bask in some much-needed natural light as you hit the 13 slides, swim-up bar, and private cabanas. Plus, if waterparks aren’t your favorite then you can always check out the onsite restaurants, shops, spa, and fitness center.
