If you can believe it, December is halfway over, and there are less than three weeks left in 2019. While the year is quickly coming to a close, the Port Liberte area still offers plenty of opportunities to celebrate!

No matter how you choose to celebrate in the upcoming weeks, there’s likely a festive community event that’s perfect for you. From holiday markets to spectacular light shows, make sure you add a few of these festivities to your holiday list.

Holiday Lights Spectacular

Holiday lights.This popular holiday event is back for the month of December! With thousands of twinkling lights and a variety of displays, take in the Holiday Lights Spectacular at the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo.

The light show will feature 50 winter and animal characters, visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, giant ice sculptures, character weekends, and more. Check out the schedule of events, and plan your visit today!

HDISD Holiday Market

Holiday decor.If you’re still looking to get those last few items on your shopping list, then the Holiday Market is the perfect opportunity to do so. Local vendors and artisans will gather on Grove Street to sell their handmade wares, from beautiful jewelry to original artwork.

The Market’s Facebook page posts updates on the current vendors, as well as links to their own Facebook pages, making it easy to check them out beforehand. Their Facebook page also features a variety of exclusive deals and coupons, so don’t miss out on those holiday savings!

Happy Holiday Market: Artists & Makers

A wrapped holiday gift.If the HDISD Holiday Market didn’t have what you were looking for, then you’re in luck: the Happy Holiday Market is another local shopping option. This market is an offshoot of the HDISD Market, and primarily features artists and makers. It’s a prime spot to visit if you’re looking for paintings, jewelry, or handmade crafts.

From brand new, up-and-coming artists to well-known local names, there will be a variety of vendors every day at the Artist & Maker Market. Come out and support local creators, and snag a few gifts while you’re at it.

Parent’s Night Out

Two kids in christmas PJs.Do you still need to finish up some last minute shopping, but can’t do it while the kids are in tow? Or do you just need a night away with your significant other or a night in alone? Whatever your reason may be, the Parent’s Night Out has you covered.

PicoTech will be hosting this date night event, and it will feature 3-4 hours of festive holiday movies, activities, and food for kids ages 3-8. While there is a small fee for a ticket, there’s a 10% discount offered for bringing a friend or sibling along!

Jersey City Mayor’s Holiday Concert

An orchestra.A popular annual event that’s now in its sixth year of operation, the Jersey City Mayor’s Holiday Concert offers a refined night of festivities. Admission is free — although there is a capacity of 1,500 — and unwrapped children’s gift donations are suggested in lieu of a ticket.

The Jersey Joint will be performing at the event, with a special appearance from the St. Dominic Academy Dominoes. Make sure you arrive early enough to reserve your spot for this festive holiday tradition.
